Baptism is the immersion of a believer as an outward sign of inward faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation comes not through works, but through faith in Christ’s death and resurrection, which forgives sin and grants righteousness. As shown in Acts 8 and Romans 6, baptism symbolises dying with Christ, being buried, and rising to new life, declaring that sin no longer condemns and new life has begun.

Love for one another is both Paul and Christ's command for his followers. It fulfills the law as we demonstrate it to those around us. There is an urgency in our actions as we recognise that the day of salvation is here, therefore put aside the old ways and re-clothe yourselves with Christlike living.

Daniel and his friends model how God’s people should live under ungodly governments. Though exiled in pagan Babylon, they recognised that God appoints rulers and therefore lived as law-abiding, respectful citizens. Yet when commands conflicted with obedience to God, they chose faithfulness to Him above human authority. Romans 13 likewise calls believers to submit to governing authorities, pay taxes, and honour leaders, since they are instituted by God. Christians should pray for rulers, seek the good of society, and ultimately obey God rather than men when the two conflict.

Followers of Christ are called to radical, sacrificial obedience rather than passive conformity to the world. True disciples bear fruit through Christlike love—genuine, self-sacrificial love that serves others, blesses enemies, and reflects the teachings of Jesus. Salvation is by grace through faith, yet living faith produces visible works. Romans 12 calls believers to such fruitfulness. This life is sustained by love for the Father, the example of Christ, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit, enabling believers to resist the world and live in humble, obedient love.

Many different people at the time of Jesus' birth missed the truth of what was taking place. Let us not now make the same mistakes, but see this time as it really is - Christ the Saviour is born.

God's glorious gospel has been proclaimed, and the result of the gospel is that it is lived out in a very practical way every day. We are transformed by the gospel, so do not be like the world. Through the Spirit's power and God's grace we are being transformed into new creatures - ones who become like Christ.

Romans 11:25-36 reveals God's merciful plan: a partial hardening on Israel until the fullness of Gentiles enters, leading to "all Israel" being saved. Either Jew or Gentile, salvation is always by faith in Christ, not law; both covenants depend on God's grace, consigning all to disobedience for mercy on all; and theology culminates in doxology - praising God's unsearchable judgments, wisdom, and riches (vv. 33-36).

The Christian life is marked by humility, modeled perfectly in Christ who humbled Himself to the cross. In Romans 11, Paul warns Gentile believers against arrogance toward Jews, reminding them that salvation is by grace through faith alone. Both Jews and Gentiles are grafted into God’s olive tree—one people, sustained by His kindness. All believers share one root, one Spirit, and one Lord. Therefore, we must remain humble, grateful, and prayerful, continuing in God’s kindness as united heirs of His promise in Christ.
